Prebble's Values Betray Taxpayers, and Principles

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Prebble's Values Betray Taxpayers, and Principles

Richard Prebble signals his party's poll-driven desperation by telling Act's Regional Conference: "Young women on the DPB should receive a range of state funded support." Libertarianz Welfare Deregulation Spokesman Sally O'Brien challenges Prebble to support them with his own money if he thinks them deserving. "But he can keep his hands out of my pockets," she says.

"What does Muriel Newman think about this," wonders O'Brien. "She was recently calling for youngsters on DPB for to be 'reviewed'. In any case," O 'Brien says, "it is now clear that voters in favour of individual sovereignty and the freedom of the market should carefully examine Act's policy implementations, rather than their stated principles. Actions, after all, speak louder than words."

Such 'social spending' - with money that is not his own, but the taxpayers - is in complete contrast with the party's own founding principle, which says: "Individuals are the rightful owners of their own lives and therefore have inherent freedoms and responsibilities; that the proper purpose of government is to protect such freedoms and not to assume such responsibilities." It would be more of a contrast if an Act person had actually written that, but of course it wasn't - it was actually written by Libertarianz founder Ian Fraser.

"It is now obvious, says O'Brien, "that Act could never have written that principle, have never understood it, and no longer support it. Libertarianz always have, always will, and have the people to carry it out!"
