Quality In Early Childhood Questioned
Libertarianz Education Deregulation Spokesman Scott Alsweiler points out that the Montessori Association of New Zealand compares oranges and apples with their suggestion that the methods of teaching pioneered by Maria Montessori and those of the state are both of like quality.
"This is both a cop-out, and a kick in the teeth for instructors, and parents whose offspring will be affected by this change," says Mr. Alsweiler. "To say nothing about the slight on Maria Montessori herself."
Whilst a qualification of genuine quality may indeed - if properly used - effect excellent results, there is nothing to suggest that those qualifications offered by NZ's teachers' colleges are of good quality. In fact there is much that leads us to realise that the qualifications gained by those choosing teaching as a career in this country are worse than useless - they are counterproductive.
Mr. Alsweiler concludes that thedisturbing trend towards absolute state control of education, and of society, will only be aided by the spineless and misguided attempts of organisations such as MANZ to placate the ravening beast of state mind control.
