People's Bid launched for no more oil and gas permits

"After the government's announcement last week opening up new onshore oil and gas permits, Climate Justice Taranaki launched a People's Bid yesterday at the Just Transition Summit to bid for all the permit blocks and halt fossil fuel exploration until the climate crisis can be averted." said Climate Justice Taranaki spokesperson Urs Signer.
"In a few months the Crown Minerals Act will be up for another review and it may be possible to legislate against any new onshore permits. It is clear from the text of the new Zero Carbon Bill and from Prime Minister Adern and Energy Minister Wood's comments yesterday that they will not push for change until the community makes them. So the pressure is on to encourage those who are concerned about our country's emissions to take a stand, participate in these parliamentary processes and call for a halt on exploration permits of all fossil fuels in Aotearoa." said Signer.
