Auckland Seminar: New Zealand’s future resource management system
Thursday 9 May 2019, 5:15-7.15 pm
Bell Gully, Level 21, Vero Centre, Shortland Street, Auckland
Over the course of 2019 the Environmental Defence Society (EDS) is continuing its large-scale review of New Zealand's resource management system. This review has been split into two phases. The final report of Phase 1 can be found at www.eds.org.nz/our-work/rm-reform-project/. Phase 2, now underway, is developing a preferred reform model which will be completed by year end.
This Auckland seminar will comprise a presentation by the authors, Dr Greg Severinsenand Raewyn Peart (who will outline the key messages from the Phase 1 report as well as the work progressed in Phase 2), followed by a presentation on the government’s resource management reform programme.
Keynote speaker: Lesley Baddon, Director, Urban and Infrastructure Policy, Ministry for the Environment. Lesley will speak on the RM bill, new or improved NPSs, new NESs, the Housing and Urban Development Authority and the longer-term system review.
This will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Gary Taylor.
Panellists: Helen Andrews (Partner, Berry Simons), Stephen Selwood (CEO, Infrastructure NZ) and Megan Tyler (Chief of Strategy, Auckland Council).
This is a great opportunity to get right up to date with the rapidly evolving world of resource management reform. Places are limited and RSVP is essential. Please register via Eventbrite here .
Our thanks to the New Zealand Law Foundation and the Borrin Foundation for their support of this project and our project partners Infrastructure NZ, Property Council NZ and EMA.
Our thanks to Bell Gully for hosting this event.
