CEAC calls for Government innovation to use EV trains
CEAC calls for Government innovation to use Electric EV trains as they also benefit of having no toxic tyre particulate emissions
Open letter to Honourable Phillip Twyford. Minister of Transport.
14th March 2019.
‘As the NZ Government offers a subsidy to buy
an electric car’ why not also for ‘Electric
locomotives’ also?
To, Mr Twyford,
Firstly;
CEAC committee now request a meeting at your office in Wellington asap regarding the Gisborne rail services restoration project we begun after meeting you in Gisborne around March 20th 2012 (three days before a storm caused the rail slip.)
We as associated members of the “Rail Action Group” were showing you all the potential the rail services improvements that would increase rail use in Gisborne then, and still we are waiting seven years later today.
Please, arrange this meeting with us as our request begins now as of 14th March 2019.
Secondly;
As the seven year anniversary of the one km rail line washout and sudden closure of the Gisborne rail line disaster that followed approaches us all as a reminder on 23rd March 2019, - and now on the eve of the historic global climate change march that begins tomorrow 15thMarch 2019 by school children against climate change, we at Citizens Environmental Advocacy Centre will support the march against climate change.
CEAC now request Government use ‘innovation’ also to use electric trains in future plans to lower our increasing levels of transport carbon emissions.
“CEAC calls for Government innovation to use Electric EV trains as they have no toxic tyre particulate emissions” - as Electric EV trains also have no tyre particulate emissions.
