Organise Aotearoa will be joining community opposition to the New Zealand Defense Industry Association Forum, otherwise
known as the weapons expo, in Palmerston North today.
“Every year the global weapons industry gathers in New Zealand to sell war merchandise,” says Organise Aotearoa
spokesperson Kate McIntyre.
“These multinational corporations profit off the widespread death and immiseration of people around the world.”
The weapons manufacturers attending will include Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Mas Zegrange, Beretta, and Serco.
“Lockheed Martin continues to manufacture nuclear weapons, putting the entirety of humanity at risk,” says McIntyre.
“It is despicable that these companies make money from war and bloodshed. Children in Yemen, Palestine, and Afghanistan
lie dead today because weapons dealers weren’t stopped from producing and selling deadly weapons.”
“By allowing these companies to do business in this country, New Zealand is complicit in the global death trade. As long
as we allow death dealers to come to our towns and cities, we are enabling business as usual for the war industry.”
“It is our responsibility as ordinary New Zealanders to stand up against war profiteers when they come to our shores.”
