Lightning strike at Ministry of Justice
A lightning strike is being actioned by PSA members
at the Ministry of Justice sites at Manukau, Papakura, and
Waitakere district courts this afternoon.
The strike is taking place on the last day of a month long period of rolling industrial action, which began with a nation-wide strike on 19 September.
This will be the fourth hour-long lightning strike held within the last month. The other strike actions, all involving Court Security Officers, took place in South Auckland (Wednesday 26 September), Christchurch (Friday 28 September), and Whangarei (Monday 1 October).
As of yesterday, PSA members at the Ministry of Justice have commenced voting on whether or not to take further industrial action beyond today. The ballot on whether to continue industrial action will close on Wednesday 24 October.
This follows prolonged but unsuccessful industrial bargaining.
PSA members throughout the Ministry of Justice include Court Reporters, Court Registry Officers, Victim Advisors, Family Court Coordinators and workers from the Ministry’s head office and specific courts such as the Māori Land Court.
