New Zealand ratifies nuclear ban treaty

New Zealand's instrument of ratification for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) was deposited by Ambassador Craig Hawke, Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, in a ceremony at 5pm on 31 July - 9am today NZ time. Congratulations from iCAN Aotearoa New Zealand to everyone who has worked to achieve this crucial milestone.
New Zealand is the 14th state party to the TPNW, which will enter into force 90 days after the 50th ratification.
