Key Appointment at Te Māngai Pāho Announced
Te Māngai Pāho Chief Executive Larry Parr today (Monday, 9 July) announced that leading Māori media and communications specialist, Te Anga Nathan, has been appointed to the organisation’s new role of Pou Arahi Hōtaka (Head of Content).
“We are very pleased to have secured someone of the calibre of Te Anga who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organisation,” Mr Parr said.
Te Anga Nathan (Te Aupouri, Ngāti Porou, Waikato), has 30 years’ experience in media, and communications. He is currently the Head of Communications and Digital at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, a position he has held since 2014.
“There couldn’t be a better time for Te Māngai Pāho to bring on someone like Te Anga, particularly with advances in technology and convergence of media. With his commitment to te reo Māori and broad media experience, he is well placed to lead our drive for better and more engaging te reo Māori content.”
Te Anga will lead implementation of the organisation’s response to the new Māori media strategy, He Mahere Whakapuaki Reo (2018-2021). He will also oversee the Content Funding Team.
“I am humbled and excited to be joining Te Māngai Pāho to guide its new Māori media strategy,” said Te Anga. “I also look forward to working with the Māori media sector to create innovative, engaging and effective Māori language content for broadcast across multiple platforms that promote the Māori language and culture.”
Te Anga was formerly Executive Online Producer at SBS National Indigenous Television in Sydney Australia and prior to that was General Manager of News and Current Affairs at Māori Television. His qualifications include an MBA from Henley Business School in London, and he is a graduate of the Institute of Excellence in the Māori language, Te Panekiretanga o te reo Māori. He will take up the Pou Arahi Hōtaka role on 23 July 2018.
