Start the Conversation: cannabis referendum

Published: Sun 8 Jul 2018 02:12 PM
The Government announced a cannabis referendum will be held on or before the 2020 election.
Start the Conversation proposes referendum questions as follows:
1. Should cannabis use and possession be decriminalised? (Yes or No)
2. Should we have a regulated market of cannabis cultivation, production and sale in New Zealand? (Yes or No)
3. Should every New Zealander over the age of 18 be able to grow up to 6 plants at home for personal consumption? (Yes or No)
We want a nationwide discussion on the referendum questions that the New Zealand public will be voting on in the Adult Cannabis Use Referendum that, as indicated by the Government, will be held by 2020.
The first step in this discussion will be our Winter Panel 2018 on 5 August at PumpHouse Theatre in Takapuna, Auckland featuring drug policy expert Dr Huhana Hickey, actress Lucy Lawless, double BMX Olympian Marc Willers, and Director of Helius Therapeutics, Paul Manning.
