A Line Has Been Crossed
PRESS RELEASE
7 July 2018
"A line was crossed today. Today marks a day when one of our most cherished ideals, that is, Free Speech, lost footing on an already slipping slope," says New Conservative Deputy Leader, Elliot Ikilei. "The mayor of Auckland, Phil Goff, has determined, in his apparent wisdom, that,"Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux will not be speaking at any Council venues.""
Mr Goff has spurned decades of council venues being used as places of free expression and free speech; he has subjected this ideal to his own musings as to who, and who should not, be allowed to engage in this freedom.
This action is an absolute affront to the men and women who sacrificed so much to stand against tyranny and the direct assault upon such freedom, and New Conservative will not allow such arrogance to go quietly unchallenged.
New Conservative staunchly supports the free speech that has been occurring year after year after year at our Auckland City Council venues, and utterly rejects the flawed attempt to label Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux as having views that are 'hate speech'.
In the words of Benjamin Franklin:
"Without
freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom -
and no such thing as public liberty without freedom of
speech."

Leader.
