Serial Child Sex Offender Could Be Housed Near School!
7th June 2018
Most ordinary New Zealanders would agree, there is no crime more despicable or abhorrent than the sexual abuse of a
child!
Meet Lloyd Alexander McIntosh, a serial child sex offender labelled as one of the country’s worst. In fact, McIntosh
became the first man to be subject to a 10-year extended supervision order (ESO). His crimes include unlawful sexual
connection with a 23-month-old baby and RAPING a 6-year old child!
Yet the Department of Corrections are looking at housing him and up to four other offenders, in the vicinity of Harewood
School in Christchurch.
Jayne Walker, Christchurch based Victim Advisor for the Sensible Sentencing Trust, (SST) is perplexed and frustrated “I
cannot make sense of it” she says “why do they (Corrections) continue to do this? We field emails and phone calls
regularly from parents who have been advised that a convicted paedophile is moving into their neighbourhood where there
are schools, kindergartens and child care centres.” Walker adds “The most common question is, they can’t do that can
they? Unfortunately, yes they can, and people don’t realise it. They think it’s a mistake.”
While McIntosh was convicted for his crimes prior to the introduction of the Three Strikes Law, Walker said of the
upcoming decision on it’s possible repeal by Justice Minister Andrew Little “This is exactly the type of offender that
the Three Strikes Law was set in place to protect the public from and it works! If the law had been in place then, there
would be far less victims of McIntosh, and way fewer lives ruined as a consequence. It’s not rocket science!” ENDS
