Labour's Northcote Hypocrisy

Democrats for Social Credit Party Leader, Stephnie de Ruyter, today labelled Labour candidate Shanan Halbert’s stance on ‘fairness’ in the by-election the ultimate in hypocrisy.

Mr Halbert has been critical of Glenfield Mall’s decision not to allow him to campaign.

“But he hasn’t said a single word about an ‘obligation to our community to apply fairness’ when the organisers of several public candidate meetings had not included our candidate Tricia Cheel on and equal basis.

“Nor has he made a complaint to the North Shore Times, TV New Zealand, or any of the multitude of media organisations which have given him substantial coverage whilst ignoring other candidates.

“This is typical of the National and Labour attitude of “It’s only unfair if we don’t get a fair deal”.

“Voters have a right to hear the views of all parties’ candidates in an election campaign, especially those of smaller parties who don’t have the enormous amount of taxpayer funded advantages that the bigger parties in parliament already have.

“Those advantages amount to paid staff, including parliamentary resources such as press secretaries, media relations staff, research staff, free air travel, a cavalcade of Ministers to visit the electorate in limousines etc, all paid for by taxpayers.

“I invite Mr Halbert to put his money where his mouth is and demand that all candidates get equal treatment.”
