European Union trade negotiations to start

Published: Wed 23 May 2018 03:56 PM
Confirmation that trade negotiations will begin on a free trade agreement with the European Union is excellent news says the EMA.
EMA, Chief Executive Officer, Kim Campbell said the Prime Minister and her team are to be congratulated for progressing this trade discussion, which has long been considered an impossibility.
"The EU is a significant trade bloc and our exporters will welcome this move to pave the way for better access," says Mr Campbell.
"When we hear the anti-global rhetoric of some of our larger trading partners, it makes this news even more welcome," he says.
"Trade builds prosperity and agreements such as this are key building blocks to a connected, vibrant economy.
"Which is why it will be exciting to celebrate the success of our exporters at our awards events next month," says Mr Campbell.
The ExportNZ divisions of EMA in the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Auckland will be announcing the winners of their respective awards in late June.
