Have your say on the prohibition of nuclear weapons

New Zealand Parliament is now seeking public submissions on an international treaty on the prohibition of nuclear weapons.

The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons seeks to prohibit the use of nuclear weapons and related activities. It was adopted by the United Nations Conference to Negotiate a Legally Binding Instrument to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons, Leading Towards their Total Elimination, on 7 July 2017.

Parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee is now calling on the public to have their say on the treaty.

What you need to know:

Submissions are publicly released and published to the Parliament website. Only your name or organisation’s name is required on a submission. Please keep your contact details separate – if they are included on the submission, they will become publicly available when the submission is released.

• If you wish to include information of a private or personal nature in your submission, you should discuss this with the clerk of the committee before submitting.

• If you wish to speak to the committee about your submission, please state this clearly.

Have your say to the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee and let them know what you think:
