Southern Response Hunger Strike Update
Peter Glasson, the Southern Response earthquake claimant who started a hunger strike at midnight on Monday 16 April is continuing to refuse all food, 3 days on.
Mr Glasson says he is losing a kilogram a day and is weak and tired but is determined to continue the hunger strike if required. He will be undergo a planned medical check tomorrow.
Dr Megan Woods, Minister for Greater Christchurch Regeneration has asked that the communication and hopefully the resolution with Southern Response be brokered by the Residential Advisory Service (RAS). RAS is seeking to identify a process that will resolve the claim the Glasson’s have with Southern Response.
Mr Glasson and his wife Anne are keen to see a positive outcome from these discussions and are acting entirely in “good faith” in order that Mr Glasson’s hunger strike can end and they can move forward with their lives.
The Glasson’s fully appreciate the Minister’s request for the involvement of RAS.
No further comment will be made until there is progress or other developments.
