Huckleberry backtrack – In negotiations with union

FIRST Union is pleased to announce its calling off strike action this afternoon at the well-known organic grocery store Huckleberry’s in Grey Lynn (previously known as Harvest).

An agreement has been reached between the two, Huckleberry’s has committed to a significant wage increase on current rates, and the living wage by May 2019, and the deal includes an increase for its onsite naturopaths of $3.

The union’s 20 members at the branch were to walk off the job at 3pm.

FIRST Union spokesperson Stephen Parry says the company’s now closer aligned with the ethical ethos its customers expect, “We’re really happy Huckleberry is taking the wellbeing of its workers seriously and this is a significant improvement.”

Mr Parry says it’s a fair outcome and one that values its customer’s dignity.
