Volunteering NZ a finalist in charity technology awards

Published: Wed 7 Mar 2018 11:14 AM
The InvolveMe Tool released by Volunteering New Zealand (VNZ) in July 2017 has been selected as a finalist in the New Zealand Charities Technology Awards 2018.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be one of the finalists for Technology Innovator of the Year”, says, VNZ Chief Executive Scott Miller. “We know that these awards celebrate the very best in technology innovation and service excellence within the New Zealand Charitable Sector. Being selected as one of three finalists demonstrates the immense value placed by the wider sector on our innovative tool and also demonstrates the importance on volunteering and volunteer involvement.”
“InvolveMe is designed to aid the more than 100,000 NGOs in New Zealand that involve volunteers on how volunteers, leaders of volunteers, organisation managers and board members view the culture, communication, strategy, and resources of their organisation.” adds Miller.
The InvolveMe tool is based on a short assessment survey which enables users to quickly assess their organisation’s existing strengths and opportunities. The organisation’s effectiveness is assessed across four domains: (1) strategy, (2) organisation culture, (3) communication, and (4) tools, processes, and resources supporting volunteering. Upon the completion of the assessment, the tool generates a customised report that guides the users towards development of an action plan in accordance with VNZ’s Best Practice Guidelines.
The tool’s interface is designed to make the assessment process intuitive. In fact, “simplified, approachable design” is the most attractive feature of InvolveMe according to the feedback from the early adopters.
The development of the tool has been gratefully funded through the 2016 Department of Internal Affairs’ Community Leadership Fund.
