Accessible Properties welcomes the news that the Government is keen to work closely with Community Housing Providers to do more.
Accessible Properties manages more than 2700 properties throughout New Zealand including more than 1700 social housing homes and around 900 homes for IHC New Zealand.
Chief Executive Greg Orchard welcomed the Hon Phil Twyford’s speech today, which outlined the Government’s vision for future housing in New Zealand.
“We know there is a desperate shortage of good affordable housing in New Zealand,” says Greg. “And we are determined to do more to help more people into good homes.
“We know what a difference a good home makes – one that works for the family or individual and is in a good community."
Greg Orchard notes the Minister’s comments that he does not accept there is a contradiction between a strong government provider and a vibrant and growing community sector.
“The Government’s goal of 100,000 homes through Kiwibuild is impressive,” says Greg. “The number is staggering and emphasises the huge shortage – we are determined to help meet the demand.
“Our tenancy managers have many, many stories of what a difference a good home makes to people and we look forward to working with the Government to do more.”
