Primetime politics: 1 NEWS reaches 1.3million TV viewers last night
New Zealanders were glued to their screens as political events unfolded at the Beehive last night.
1 NEWS had extended live coverage from 1 NEWS at Six as NZ First leader Winston Peters announced his party would form a coalition with Labour, led by Jacinda Ardern. 1
NEWS’ Seven Sharp special went through until 8.30pm following Ardern’s press conference.
During this time, 1 NEWS’ coverage reached in excess of 1.3 million viewers, and was watched by an average audience of
691,000 (AP 5+). Over 50% of New Zealand’s TV viewing audience turned to 1 NEWS.
There were a further 450,000 live streams across a range of TVNZ’s online channels including 1 NEWS NOW, RE: and
Facebook – eclipsing the live streams 1 NEWS recorded on Election night.
