H.A. Goodman to appear at 5th #AntiSpyBill Event

He told the world that Hillary Clinton was corrupt and unelectable. They laughed at him, but he was right.

Journalist H.A. Goodman has written for The Hill, Salon and the Huffington Post and appeared on CNN and MSNBC. But as a Wikileaks fan and an avid Bernie Sanders supporter, his deeply progressive opinion became too inconvenient: that although the Deep State runs the world, Hillary Clinton was unelectable and would never become President of the United States.

H.A. began developing his own You Tube channel, where he now has nearly 100,000 subscribers, and discusses what’s really going on behind the curtains of democracy, every day.

This Sunday, he joins the Internet Party live online at the 5th #AntiSpyBill event. The event will be held online between 8pm and 11pm Sunday the 10th of September, 2017, NZST (UTC+12) and follows on from the Internet Party’s first four #AntiSpyBill events, which have featured appearances by internet entrepreneur and Internet Party Founder Kim Dotcom, award-winning journalist Barrett Brown, hacktivist Lauri Love, comedian Lee Camp, CIA torture whistleblower John Kiriakou, US drone program whistleblower Cian Westmoreland and two-time Nobel Peace Prize Nominee David Swanson.

Internet Party Leader Suzie Dawson will MC the event and says: “H.A. Goodman is part of a great tradition of journalists who won’t let go of an important story even in the face of social or political pressure to do so. His dogged persistence in following up the countless immoral acts committed by the Democratic National Committee, who rigged their Primary and debates against Bernie Sanders to ensure Clinton would obtain the nomination, has been remarkable. Equally admirable is H.A.’s relentless support for whistleblowers and journalists who are persecuted for their work.”

The Internet Party is inviting the public to join the roundtable event, which as well as discussing contemporary issues of the day, will continue its effort to draft crowdsourced legislation to regulate government spying.

The initiative seeks to counter the damage to democratic and human rights inflicted upon New Zealanders by a string of draconian spying laws passed between 2013 and 2016. These laws have retroactively legalised previously illegal targeting of New Zealanders, including warrantless spying and covertly filming them inside their homes, Orwell-style - a practice referred to in law as “domestic visual surveillance”.

Internet Party Leader Suzie Dawson said "New Zealand spies and their international counterparts have engaged in some of the most egregious conduct imaginable. The laws passed under urgency in recent years have only furthered the sense of invulnerability of these spies. They also violate international law. We must show that where our lawmakers fail to do so, the public are willing to step up and address these issues themselves.”

The event will be simulcast live on the official Internet Party Facebook page and You Tube channel.
