Applications open for $750,000 research fund
Applications are now open for the second round of funding from the Superu Children and Families Research Fund.
The Fund provides researchers with an opportunity to explore and shape social policy that supports children and their
families, whānau and communities.
Vasantha Krishnan, Superu’s Deputy Chief Executive, says that the Fund is dedicated to exploring policy-relevant issues
using anonymised data from the Growing Up in New Zealand (GUiNZ) longitudinal study.
"Funding totaling $750,000 is available. This follows on from over $1 million that was allocated earlier this year in
the first funding round," says Ms Krishnan.
"We recognise that researchers need to connect with GUiNZ data to help tackle key challenges that New Zealand children
and their families face today, so we’re helping to make it possible."
The aim of the Fund is to facilitate research that will make a difference based on new analysis of the anonymised GUiNZ
data, says Ms Krishnan.
The Fund is open to applications from government agencies, academics, public or independent research organisations, and
non-government organisations. Research proposals should identify issues that align with government priorities and
demonstrate policy fit and relevance.
GUiNZ study data are collected by the University of Auckland in accordance with the Data Access Protocol which protects
the privacy of participants. Crown funding of GUiNZ is managed by Superu.
