Child Poverty Action Group in Whangarei are hosting a political forum next Wednesday 23 August, to hear from local candidates standing in the Whangarei General Electorate, Northland General Electorate and Tai Tokerau Maori Electorate, about their vision for a New Zealand where all children can flourish.

The forum, which will be chaired by local lawyer and television personality, Rob Harte, is supported by Ngati Hine FM, Te Hiku Media and the Haukainga Project who will be filming on the night.

Attendance by all (including children and young
people!) welcomed.
The Whangarei CPAG group was formed in
2005, when members from the community and local
organisations concerned with the health and wellbeing of
children and families/whānau recognised that as a matter of
urgency, systemic changes needed to occur.
CPAG Whangarei focus on:
working with the media to raise awareness of
child poverty and generate discussion amongst the general
public;
advocating to our local politicians to prioritise
policy interventions to end child poverty.
Working with
local communities to support community action to address
child
poverty.
