Labour Māori Campaign Launch – Sunday 30 July, 2017
Wednesday 19 July 2017 - The Labour Māori Campaign will officially launch on Sunday 30th July at Ngā Whare Waatea Marae in South Auckland.
Labour’s Māori campaign director Willie Jackson says “it is appropriate that we launch our campaign in the area where most Māori live in this country”.
Jackson says all the Māori seat MPs will be there and available for a kōrero. The afternoon will feature a special selection of speeches from MPs and other special guests who will be announced next week.
He says “we will be hearing from our most senior Māori MP Nanaia Mahuta about the challenges she has in front of her; as well as Ikaroa-Rāwhiti MP Meka Whaitiri who will give us a breakdown on the Ture Whenua Bill and how she was successful in stopping the Māori Party’s flagship policy”.
Also speaking will be Tāmaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare and the Labour Party’s first Māori General Seat MP, Manurewa’s Louisa Wall.
A special feature for the day will be the announcement of two Māori policies that will be given by our Māori Development Spokesperson, Te Tai Tokerau MP Kelvin Davis.
Kelvin will then introduce Labour Party leader Andrew Little who will talk about the importance of the Māori seats and why the Māori vote is so important for Labour.
So haere mai, nau mai ki Nga Whare Waatea Marae – Sunday at 10:30 am, 31 Calthorp Close, Mangere.
We will have waiata and plenty of reasons on why you should vote for Labour in the Māori seats.
