Auditor-General's strategic intentions and Singapore Airlines response published

We’ve published two publications on our website today:

The Auditor-General’s strategic intentions to 2025 was presented to the House of Representatives today. It sets out the objectives our Office will focus on for the next eight years.

As an Office, our purpose is to give Parliament and New Zealanders an independent view about public sector performance and accountability. Our vision is that, through our work, we will contribute to a high-performing and trusted public sector.

During the next eight years, we intend to use our unique perspective and independent voice to influence the changes needed for New Zealand’s public sector to operate and be accountable in ways that will meet the needs of Parliament and New Zealanders in the second quarter of the 21st century.

To do this, we have three strategic objectives which will focus our work:

• Strengthening the public sector: We want to use our influence to improve the performance of public entities and the public management system in which they operate.
• Improving New Zealanders’ trust and confidence: We want to ensure that accountability arrangements work to improve New Zealanders’ trust and confidence in the public sector.
• Leading by example: We want to be a role model for public sector performance and accountability.

Funding arrangement for Singapore Airlines route

In response to queries from members of the public, we have written to Wellington City Council regarding the funding arrangement for Singapore Airlines’ Wellington-Canberra-Singapore route. This letter is available on our website.
