TOP's Mika on Labour bringing in unpaid overseas students

Opportunities Party Auckland Central Candidate Mika responds to Labour Party bringing in unpaid overseas students.
Labour has kids flying here at their own expense? Where are the youth for Labour? This weekend, dozens of NZ youth descend upon Mika’s The Opportunities Party Auckland Campaign headquarters to talk about the real challenges they face as young New Zealanders.
Students as "slave labour" is exactly why Mika started the Mika Haka Foundation. Young people are often paid badly, or worse, not at all.
Mika says, “We must start supporting young people immediately. I have been paying and supporting Kiwi kids for over two decades. This year, let us all differentiate between an opportunity that gets young people on TOP, and slave labour.”
Mika’s Influencer/Emerging Leader programmes, where young NZers under 25 are paid and rewarded, has not only been successful, but also government evaluated for its effectiveness. Mika will be an integral part of The Opportunities Party’s major youth development policy, to be announced next month.
