Court rules to evict elderly Tāmaki tenent
This afternoon the District Court ruled against elderly and sick social housing tenant Ioela 'Niki' Rauti.
The judgment upholds the Tenancy Tribunal's judgement that Tamaki Regernational Ltd has the legal right to evict Niki.
Niki and the Tāmaki Housing Group have been protesting Tāmaki Regeneration Ltd's role as a company set up to enable property speculation and profit making in the Glen Innes and wider Tāmaki area.
Niki is applying for an appeal in the High Court. We would expect Tamaki Regeneration Ltd to allow Niki to proceed through the legal justice system before acting hastily.
