Film Auckland applauds Budget boost for the screen sector
Film Auckland Inc. applauds the Budget boost for
the screen sector.
Bravo!
Film Auckland Inc. acknowledges the
support of the Government for our screen sector. The
announcement by the Minister for Economic Development, Simon
Bridges and Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Maggie
Barry yesterday of the $303.9 million allocated to support
New Zealand screen industry production grants both
internationally and locally, is vital for the continued
growth of the screen sector.
Film Auckland is heartened
by the confidence shown by the Government in supporting the
work to bring global productions to New Zealand while at the
same time, ensuring that sufficient funding under the New
Zealand Screen Production Grant is made available for our
domestic industry.
Film Auckland firmly believes that the screen industry brings diversified benefits across our wider economic sectors from the service industry, trades, professional services and associated screen industry businesses. The screen industry also helps to provide employment opportunities and showcases the highly skilled screen sector enabling not just local opportunities but also international employment and collaborative opportunities for our professionals. The budget boost will enable our local businesses to confidently invest in infrastructure, facilities, equipment and staff which in turn helps to increase the spend within our economy. This has a wider impact of helping to lift the income levels of New Zealanders across the board.
“Over the last few years, the screen industry has consolidated itself as dynamic and important sector pulling its weight behind our wider economy” says Alex Lee, Chairman of Film Auckland Inc.
“We must continue as a country to do everything we can to ensure that we hold onto the mantle as the screen location and industry second to none in the world” continues Mr Lee.
Film Auckland Inc. is a screen advisory board representing the wider Auckland screen industry whose kaupapa is to lead and help facilitate the continued growth and sustainability of the screen industry as a key economic sector for New Zealand.
