Clare Curran selected as Labour’s 2017 candidate in the Dunedin South electorate
Clare Curran has been selected as the Dunedin South Labour Party candidate in the 2017 General Election.
“I am proud to be Labour’s Dunedin South candidate for the 2017 election,” said Clare Curran.
“Dunedin South is made up of strong communities and I will be working hard to make sure those voices are heard loud and
clear. Kiwis deserve a fair go and they are not getting it under this National government."
“2017 presents an opportunity to galvanise mistrust of the National Government and doubts about Bill English as leader
with a positive message centred on Labour’s values of fairness and equality.
“Our focus will be on the effects of the underfunding of our health system, the crisis of housing affordability, the
neglect of our regions and the rising costs of education and how a Labour Government would put New Zealand on the right
track.
“The biggest enemy of politics is apathy and what I try to do is give people a way of connecting more with politics by
being as available and accessible as possible,” Clare Curran said.
Labour General Secretary, Andrew Kirton, said: “Clare joins our growing list of energetic candidates who will stand for
Labour in 2017. Our focus is on electing a strong, Labour-led government next year that will back the Kiwi Dream and
help every New Zealander get ahead.”
