Mt Albert by-election Wakeman gives reason
PETER WAKEMAN,
My interests include the pursuit of natural justice, the restoration of eroded personal rights, local and national
politics and playing bridge.
Why am I standing?
I am extremely worried about the runaway climate change that we are confronting.
I believe the system where bankers obtain create virtually free money, courtesy of the Reserve Bank, to lend back to
individuals, businesses and even the Government at inflated rates of interest. I believe that the Government should
control this function, saving costs and freeing up funds to spend on preserving our eco-systems that provide us with
quality of living and staving off the threat of extinction.
What issues are you campaigning on?
I propose a retirement age of 55 years old. It could be funded by a financial transaction tax of .0025 cents per
transacted dollar. (25 cents per $100) thus creating debt-free money. (The post WWII Labour Government, instructed the
Reserve Bank to create debt-free money to create employment for building houses, infrastructure and planting forests).
I believe that the minimum age restrictions being imposed by retirement village developers is discriminatory, against
the law and should be revoked.
We need more money and experienced personnel to address the social problems and needs besetting our society to effect
positive outcomes.
We need to preserve our autonomy and legal freedoms which are becoming eroded as New Zealand signs up to regional and
international agreements that can impact on our freedom to make our own decisions and charter our country’s course into
the future.
What have you got to offer to the people of the Mount Albert electorate area.
I have been involved in both local and national political organisations and stood as a candidate. I believe that I have
the background experience that will enable me to represent Mount Albert as their parliamentary representative. I believe
that my commercial background and concern for natural justice and the restoration of eroded personal rights, will assist
me in serving the needs of the electorate very well.
I think that Mount Albert citizens deserve a hand-on and focussed MP rather than simply giving a list MP a safe
parliamentary seat. Their issues will become my issues too.
