Peace blockade a success
Media Release: Peace blockade a success
From: Auckland Peace Action
Date: Wednesday 15 November 2016
"The peace blockade of the weapons expo has been a great success today. We are thrilled to have had so many people to come and resist this war profiteers' meeting," said Auckland Peace Action spokesperson Virginia Lambert
"These courageous activists put themselves in the way of the war business to stop it."
"We simply cannot allow the world to continue on as it is: trillions of dollars are being spent making weapons. Millions of people have fled their homes from ongoing wars. Our society is paying for weapons while our health system is failing, our people are homeless and our children live in poverty. The only people benefiting from this are the weapons dealers: they have a financial interest in starting and prolonging wars."
"Tomorrow we will return at 6pm with a wall of noise to disrupt their Gala dinner. We will have pots, pans, many many drummers, saxophones and all."
