Auckland Rally: Standing Rock Solidarity Day
[Press release:]
Auckland Rally: Standing Rock Solidarity Day
Indigenous leaders in Standing Rock have called for an international day of action on November 15th against the Dakota Access Pipeline. The day of action will continue the demand for the U.S Federal government and the Army Corps to reject and stop the Dakota Access Pipeline project.
The day is one of many calls for solidarity actions targeting not only the Army Corps, but stakeholders at every level -- including the banks who are funding Dakota Access as well as the many U.S Federal institutions around the world.
Racial Equity Aotearoa (REA) continues to stand in solidarity with Standing Rock, since the first call for global action by David Archambault II in late August.
On November 15th 5pm (New Zealand time), REA will be organizing a rally outside the U.S Consulate in Auckland. REA stands in solidarity with the communities at the frontline fighting for the well-being of Indigenous waterways, lands, and lives. A fight for Indigenous sovereignty is innately linked to the fight against Border-Imperialism, Racism, Colonization, Capitalism and the denigration of the Earth by relying on fossil fuels.
Communities across Aotearoa New Zealand have been active in prolonged solidarity with our Indigenous whanaunga on Turtle Island. Let's continue to stand up Aotearoa. Let's continue to connect, organize, and action our collective support for Standing Rock. Let's continue to demand NoDAPL and declare that water is life.
Join REA outside the U.S Consulate, 23 Customs St East at 5pm on Tuesday November 15th to demand that the Obama Administration and the incoming Trump administration stop the Dakota Access Pipeline.
