TPP Free Wellington - media release - coming event.
Welcome “Our Children's Future Hikoi” in Wellington.
Venue 11:30am Thursday 3 November at Railway Station Green, Bunny st and Bluebridge ferry terminal, Waterloo Quay – then final steps to Parliament.
The Our Children's Future Hikoi set off from Christchurch 15 October walking for 400 klms to the Parliament in Wellington. They board the Bluebridge Ferry from Picton, Thursday morning, arriving 11:30am in Wellington at the Ferry terminal in Waterloo Quay.
Our Children's Future Hikoi organiser Gen de Spa said. "We've had a great response for billets along the route and donations of food. It looks like we've hit a critical nerve as more and more people become aware of the risks to our children's future because of current economic policies."

Rachel Thomas and her three children, Tema, Pita and Jai, lead the 20 day hikoi from Cathedral Square, Christchurch to a reception at parliament on immediate upon arrival after disembarking from the Ferry soon after 11:30am Thursday.
The purpose of the Our Children's Future Hikoi is to draw the attention of the public, media and all political parties to the grim future our children and grandchildren will face without sincere and effective action on climate change, trade treaties that cause inequality, corporate control of our economy and economic policies that have resulted in child poverty and homelessness in New Zealand.
"You reach a point when the evidence builds up overwhelmingly and you cry out to everyone, 'Someone's got to do something about all this'," says Rachel explaining what motivates her. "Then it hits you. That someone is me!"
TPP Free Wellington encourage the public to be present at the Railway Station Green Bunny st. from 11:30am to warmly welcome the Hikoi after they disembark from the ferry terminal across Waterloo Quay. Early birds and the media might get an opportunity to be present on the ferry terminal wharf when the Hikoi disembarks.
The welcome provides an opportunity to thank the Hikoi participants for their enormous efforts. We encourage those present to bring a picnic lunch to share following the powhiri and formalities at Parliament.
The object of the Hikoi is the walk from Christchurch to Parliament.
Wellingtonians are encouraged to accompany the Hikoi for its final steps to Parliament to be welcomed to their desitination by way of a formal reception at Parliament to commence nominally from 11:50am.
Ends.
