MWU mourns the loss of Helen Kelly

The passing of Helen Kelly is deeply mourned by Meat Workers Union members across New Zealand.

“Helen worked tirelessly for our members,” says MWU National Secretary Graham Cooke. “She lent so much hope and inspiration to us and to the union movement, her death is an incredible sorrow, but she has passed her fighting spirit on to all of us.

“Helen was a fighter who never lost sight of the need to make New Zealand a better place for our people. Even as she fought with cancer she stood up for what was right.

“Today the union movement pauses to mourn the loss of an incredible leader, and we offer our deepest condolences to Helen’s family, and to all the people that loved her.

“Tomorrow we keep organising for the better world that Helen strove for, and that will be her legacy.”
