Hamilton election - progress results available

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


Progress results for the Mayor and Councillors for Hamilton City Council have been released.

Progress results indicate that the Mayoral vote is close, and that Andrew King has 8003 votes, with Paula Southgate less than 150 votes behind on 7863. The preliminary results will available tomorrow morning which takes into account special votes and votes received at the council office and libraries on election day morning.

Progress results indicate the following candidates have been provisionally elected as councillors.
West Ward councillors:
• Martin Gallagher (7878)
• Andrew King (7044)
• Angela O’Leary (6747)
• Dave MacPherson (6738)
• Leo Tooman (6185)
• Geoff Taylor (4811)
If King wins the Mayoral race, Siggi Henry will be elected (4791)
East Ward councillors:
• Paula Southgate (8524)
• Rob Pascoe (6052)
• James Casson (5788)
• Phillip Yeung (5412)
• Garry Mallet (4804)
• Mark Bunting (4737)
If Southgate wins the Mayoral race, Angela Strange will be elected (4240)
Progress results are based on all votes received by the Electoral Office before noon Saturday 8 October. Progress results exclude special votes and votes received at the council office and libraries on election day morning.
The remaining votes will be counted tonight with preliminary results being released later tonight/ early Sunday 9 October.
