Dunedin (Thursday, 15 September 2016) – Voting papers for the October local body elections will be arriving in letterboxes from tomorrow.
The Electoral Officer for the Dunedin City Council and the Otago Regional Council, Pam Jordan, says the elections are held by postal vote and voting papers will arrive from 16 September to 21 September.
Voting papers must be mailed back in time to be received by 12 noon on Election Day, Saturday, 8 October.
If you have not received your voting papers by 22 September, you can cast a special vote. To get special voting papers posted out phone 03 477 4000 or email specialvotes@dcc.govt.nz. Alternatively, people can visit the special voting booth in the Plaza Meeting Room in the Civic Centre, which will be open from 16 September. The booth will be open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, and also on the morning of 8 October.
The Dunedin City Council election will be conducted under the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system, while the Otago Regional Council will be elected under the First Past the Post (FPP) system.

Names on the voting papers will be in random order for the DCC and ORC. Each voting paper will be unique.
