NZDF Vessel Returns From Successful Fisheries Patrols in the Pacific

The Royal New Zealand Navy’s offshore patrol vessel HMNZS Wellington will return to the Devonport Naval Base on Friday 26 August after a successful five-week operation conducting fisheries patrols in the south-west Pacific.

The patrols, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, were carried out in collaboration with Pacific Islands countries and the Ministry for Primary Industries.

The ship left New Zealand on 18 July, and also made port visits to several Pacific Islands as part of defence diplomacy activities.

The ship will be arriving in company with the French frigate FS Vendemiaire, which undertook military training with Wellington in New Caledonia after the fisheries patrols.
