What About the Predators Killing Our Kids
PREDATOR FREE NZ - BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PREDATORS KILLING OUR KIDS
26th July 2016
“It is ironic that the same day the Government announces a plan to eradicate predators to protect our natural heritage an even more despicable predator has appealed his sentence for killing a defenceless and vulnerable child.” McVicar
Sensible Sentencing Founder, Garth McVicar says that while he is a big believer in protecting the environment he struggles with the fact that vulnerable children are being raped, abused and killed at ever increasing alarming numbers by equally savage and marauding predators.
McVicar was commenting on yesterday’s announcement that the Government plans to set up a new public-private partnership company by the beginning of 2017 to help fund regional large-scale predator eradication programmes.
“Yet when it comes to attacks on equally vulnerable children it seems the Government is content to turn a blind eye and allow the killers to game the system.”
The lawyer representing Tania Shailer and Ben Haewera has announced the two will be appealing their sentences.
McVicar said it was legislation introduced by this Government in 2013 that led to Moko’s killers being convicted of manslaughter rather than murder and now able to milk the system and appeal their sentences.
“It seems crazy to me that the Government is prepared to spend millions to eradicate pests that desecrate our wildlife yet turn a blind eye to the equally evil predators who savagely abuse children like Moko Rangitoheriri.
“This seems to be the worst hypocrisy possible, on one hand the Government are saying they want to protect the environment from predators that rape and pillage and then steadfastly refuse to do anything about the equally savage predators that rape, maim, abuse and murder innocent and vulnerable children.”
