Nearly Naked Christchurch Beauties Take on Annah Stretton for Refusing to Renounce Fur

Sexy PETA Supporters Urge Designer to Join Fashion Peers in Banning Clothing Made from Animal Fur

Christchurch - Wearing nothing more than black briefs and holding a banner that read, “Compassion Is Always in Fashion – Go Fur-Free”, sexy supporters of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Australia today descended on fashion designer Annah Stretton’s Christchurch store to protest her use of fur. Stretton continues to employ the cruel material in her collections despite top designers like Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein going completely fur-free.

"Annah Stretton sentences countless animals to violent, excruciating deaths, all for a tacky look most consumers wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole", says PETA Australia Campaign Coordinator Claire Fryer. "PETA is advising Stretton to make the compassionate and business-savvy decision to ban all vulgar fur from her line - before shoppers walk away for good."

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that "animals are not ours to wear" – notes that animals used for their fur suffer terribly, whether they are imprisoned for their entire lives to cramped and filthy wire cages on fur farms or killed via poison or trapping. Animals poisoned by 1080 and other toxins suffer symptoms such as vomiting, convulsions and tremors until they finally die. In fur trapping, animals caught in traps attempt to chew off their limbs to escape and - if not killed by blood loss, infection or gangrene - are strangled, battered or stamped to death.
