No Right Turn blog launches petition to repeal the financial veto

In the wake of last night's veto of Sue Moroney's bill to extend paid parental leave, the No Right Turn blog has launched a petition to repeal the veto from parliament's Standing Orders.

"The veto is an archaic and unconstitutional relic of English feudalism," said blogger Idiot/Savant. "It has no place in our modern, democratic MMP constitution. It should go".

The petition is being run through the ActionStation platform. At the end of the campaign it will be presented to Parliament, and hopefully to the Standing Orders Committee. It can be signed here:

No Right Turn (https://norightturn.blogspot.co.nz/) is one of New Zealand's longest-lived political blogs, and has been serving up daily news and opinion on democracy, human rights, civic participation and freedom of information since 2003.
