Airline of the Year awards recognise Air NZ workers

E tū, the union for aviation workers, is celebrating Air New Zealand winning Airline of the Year in both the domestic and international categories of the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards on Monday night.

E tū Aviation spokesperson Kelvin Ellis says the awards are a welcome recognition of the hard work of all Air New Zealand employees.

“These awards reflect the truth that Air New Zealand workers are some of the best in the business,” Kelvin says. “Customers know that flying Air New Zealand means experiencing a world class service.”

Kelvin says it’s no coincidence that customers recognise excellent service from a company that has a great working relationship with the union.

“E tū works extremely hard with Air New Zealand workers and management right across the workforce. Together we have built a high-performing workplace, which means that workers are happy and in turn so are Air New Zealand’s customers.

“The airline actively engages with the union. There are fantastic systems for feedback, consultation and improvement. They don’t outsource their workforce. When a company works well with the union, and looks after their dedicated workers, everyone wins.”
