Joint Working Group on Pay Equity Principles statement
MERAS the union of employed midwives supports the recommendations for pay equity principles set out by the Joint Working Group on Pay Equity Principles. It calls on the government to adopt the recommendations.
The struggle for equal pay for work of equal value continues to be relevant for employed midwives. Developing a framework where this could be progressed based on a good faith bargaining approach under the Employment Relations Act would be another important step towards fair pay for all women workers.
