Future Roles Decided for NgaPuhi RuNanga Chairman
Following a special meeting yesterday, Acting Board Chair Carol Dodd confirmed that the Board of Trustees for Te
Runanga-a-iwi o Ngapuhi met with Mr Raniera Tau to discuss his future roles within the Runanga. Mrs Dodd says the Board
has given full consideration to this matter and the following outcomes were unanimously agreed with Mr Tau:
• Mr Tau will remain on leave from his role as Board Chairman until July 2016, at which time the Board will
release a further statement. While on leave from Board Chair duties and responsibilities, the Board supports Raniera to
continue to lead and influence issues of significance to Ngapuhi.

• In the meantime, Carol Dodd will continue in the role of Acting Board Chair and Wane Wharerau as Acting Board
Deputy Chair.

• Effective immediately, Mr Tau has voluntarily resigned from the following roles:
•
o Director - Ngapuhi Iwi Social Services
o Director - Ngapuhi Service Station Ltd
o Director - Ngapuhi Books and Stationery Ltd
o Director - Ngapuhi Food and Beverage Ltd.
Mr Tau will also extend his stand-down period as Director for the Ngapuhi Asset Holding Company for a further three
months, making his total stand-down period 16 months.
Mr Tau has acknowledged and apologised for the error of his actions Mrs Dodd says. Trustees fully considered the views,
opinions and feedback of our people, and it is important to our beneficiaries and Ngapuhi katoa that we continue to move
forward in pursuit of our vision, Kia tu tika ai te whare tapu o Ngapuhi - That the sacred House of Ngapuhi stands firm.
The Runanga, including the Board of Trustees and Mr Tau will not comment further until after sentencing on all matters
before the courts on 16 June.
