Mother’s Day cards for the Prime Minister
The Government has an opportunity this Mother’s Day to show genuine support for those looking after our littlest citizens by making a small but significant step to increase paid parental leave to 26 weeks.
“Community groups, parents and their children will be sending a special Mother’s Day message this year not to their Mums but to the Prime Minister John Key calling on his Government to support eight more weeks paid parental leave,” said 26 for Babies Spokesperson Rebecca Matthews-Heron
“Sue Moroney currently has a Bill to increase paid time off for new parents. This Bill has the support of the majority of MPs as well as overwhelming public support. The Government needs get on board and make 26 weeks paid parental leave a top priority.
Mother’s Day card signing events are happening around the country including in - Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington.
