Salvation Army responds to Government's plans to measure family violence

However, reliance on existing offence reporting and recording processes mean it is likely to inadequate and seriously under-count actual cases of family violence.
Only around one in 16 assaults show up in police records and New Zealanders deserve more comprehensive and reliable figures to measure and understand the extent of a serious social problem.
