Sensible Sentencing Trust’s Manawatu spokesperson Scott Guthrie is backing New Zealand First’s call to have gangs and
anyone associated with gangs removed from state owned housing.
Scott says it is common knowledge and fact that neighbourhoods are repeatedly terrorised by gangs and leave people
fearing for their safety and lives.
Whether it be Black Power, Mongrel Mob, Hell’s Angels, Nomads or any gang for that fact, they are all criminals and New
Zealand tax payers shouldn’t be funding their life styles like we are now.
Housing New Zealand has a huge waiting list of good honest families wanting and in need of accommodation throughout the
country so why should those families come behind the criminals like they are now.
Backing his words up Scott says you only have to look at the suburb of Highbury in Palmerston North Manawatu, where over
recent years we have seen Gang murders, drive by shootings, P lab busts and serious assaults all in a heavily state
owned housing area.
New Zealand First is right on the button with its call to throw Gangs out of state owned housing saving the tax payers
millions of dollars per year by rent being paid on time and no refurbishment needed because of drug manufacturing.
