MP calls Dunne disappointing over Kelly's stalled application
Petition: https://www.change.org/p/peter-dunne-permission-for-helen-kelly-to-use-a-cannabis-oil-product-to-help-control-her-pain-nausea
Helen Kelly's stalled application for medical cannabis highlights the importance of reforms which would take the decision making out of the hands of politicians and into the hands of the public.
A referendum about cannabis has been called for by Kelly, allowing the public to have their say on medical cannabis and the wider issue of criminalisation.
Labour MP Damien O'Conner said "unfortunately [Dunne] has disappointed" by delaying her application. He will present Dunne an online petition calling for Kelly's application to be approved.
This follows another petition, tabled in Parliament today, calling for Pharmac to fund medical cannabis preparation Sativex.
Australia is in the process of passing federal legislation that will allow the cultivation of cannabis for medical purposes.
The Cannabis Party's policy will ensure all adult New Zealanders have the right to grow cannabis and New Zealand will have the opportunity to be a world leading exporter of medical cannabis.
