Represent New Zealand at Commonwealth Day 2016

Represent New Zealand at Commonwealth Day 2016

Two young Kiwis living in the United Kingdom will be chosen to represent New Zealand at the annual Commonwealth Day celebrations in London.

The New Zealand Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) is seeking applications from young New Zealanders to attend the event which is themed “An Inclusive Commonwealth”. In 2016, Commonwealth Day is on Monday 14 March 2016.

The two people chosen will go to the Commonwealth Day Observance at Westminster Abbey attended by Queen Elizabeth II and all of the Commonwealth High Commissioners in London. The representatives will also take part in discussions, presentations and short debates on critical issues facing Commonwealth nations.

Accommodation will be arranged for participants who live outside London for the night of Sunday 13 March 2016. There is also limited funding available to travel to London from other parts of the United Kingdom.

How to apply

To apply you need to be aged between 18 and 25 years, have strong leadership skills, and an interest in the Commonwealth and parliamentary affairs. Ideally, you will be living in or close to London on Commonwealth Day.

If you’re interested, please send your name, age, occupation, and a short explanation of why you want to be New Zealand’s representative to cpa@parliament.govt.nz
