New Native Affairs format in 2016
Native Affairs will launch its tenth season in 2016 with a new 30 minute format of indigenous stories from New Zealand
and around the world.
The decade benchmark continues Māori Television’s commitment to quality journalism and supports its strategy to be the
leader in Māori news and current affairs.
Head of News and Current Affairs Maramena Roderick says the decision to change to a 30 minute format was audience driven
and follows on from changes made earlier in the year. She says no jobs will be lost as a result of the move to the new
format.
“Year on year ratings are holding and Native Affairs has achieved a 62 per cent increase in online viewership this year.
The recently completed audience research has helped us to further improve the show for our viewers.”
Ms Roderick says the refreshed show will be feature story driven, with a single presenter format.
“We are responding to our audience appetite for shorter and sharper stories while continuing with our investigative
approach.”
The show returns to screens on Tuesday 15 March at the new time of 8pm.
