Chief Executive Glen Sowry to leave Housing New Zealand
After almost three years as the Chief Executive of Housing New Zealand Corporation (HNZC), Glen Sowry has announced he intends to take up the position of Chief Executive of NZX listed company Metlifecare in March 2016.
HNZC Chair Adrienne Young-Cooper said Mr Sowry informed the board of his decision yesterday. His resignation has been accepted with regret.
Mr Sowry joined Housing New Zealand in January 2013. He will remain as Chief Executive until March 2016.
Mrs Young-Cooper says that in his time as Chief Executive, Mr Sowry has contributed significant leadership to improving the service Housing New Zealand provides to its tenants, who are among New Zealand’s most vulnerable citizens.
“Glen brought a strong operational focus to the role and through this has managed significant improvements in the quality of maintenance of state houses, the capacity of HNZC in property development and the rate of building of new state houses. He has also overseen the near completion of the massive repair and rebuild programme which has followed the Canterbury earthquakes of 2010 and 2011.”
The HNZC board will start the search and appointment process for a new Chief Executive immediately.
